The Biggest Safety Risks? The Ones You Don’t Expect.
When we talk about health and safety, we usually picture construction sites with loads of heavy
machinery and risks at every turn. But the office can be just as risky, especially when seemingly
minor situations are overlooked or dismissed.
Prevention strategies can be as simple as just laying down carpet instead of tile to prevent falls,
hiding cables that might cause people to trip, or keeping clutter to a minimum to prevent collapsing
shelves. Because safety is a holistic enterprise, it should also include wellness. A big part of this is
using furniture and equipment designed with an ergonomic purpose but also training employees on
how to properly adjust and use it to their benefit.
Of course, as much as you may try, sometimes matters are out of your hands–which is why the best
defense is to always be prepared and have a plan.
