It’s been a big month of updates for Donesafe, some of which you’ll notice and some of which are hidden quietly in the background. Either way, it’s definitely worth diving in and taking a quick look at some of the major changes.
Perhaps the biggest change this month is the launch of Organisation view. Prior to this time, the way you viewed your records by default in your dashboard was largely driven by the location on the top right hand side of the screen; this will no longer be the case. The change essentially makes it easier to browse records that are relevant to you. This was a hard decision to make, but in the long run it’s a much stronger and more intuitive way to view records.If you’re an average worker with nobody working under you, you’ll see your own records by default on your dashboard. If you’re a team leader, you’ll be able to see your own records as well as everybody working underneath you. This pattern continues up the organisational tree. This means that if, for example, one of your team reports an incident in a site that you don’t work in, you’ll still be able to see that incident on your incident lists as you’re their team leader.
One important point is that this doesn’t affect what records you’re allowed to view so if you don’t have view rights for a record or it’s confidential, then this behaves in much the same way as before.
If you do need to filter by location this can still be done in your individual incident/hazard/checklist etc lists.
This behaviour is driven by your user configuration and whom each user has marked as their manager. This makes the process of setting up your team views much quicker and easier whilst giving you far greater granularity in your setup.
Locations, though no longer driving your default views of the platform, still matter for reporting as does your organisational tree. It may take some getting used to at first, but in the long run it’s a much stronger way to view the platform.
There’s also been a minor tweak with who can see a record once it’s been created. The definition of ownership of records has been expanded to include people “involved” with the record, those who originally created the record and those who are marked as “Reported To” and “Reported By”.This was an easy adjustment to decide upon. For one thing it goes hand in hand with the organisational adjustments, but it also removes the likelihood of you not being able to view a record that you should definitely be able to view.There’s more in depth explanation below:
Donesafe has now expanded its LMS functionality to include SCORM e-learning courses. The SCORM functionality can be setting up in your Settings->Learn->SCORM section. Usability tweaks will still be coming over time. We’ve accounted for as much configurability as possible, but if you try to upload a new course and run into any difficulties don’t hesitate to reach out and get in contact with Donesafe or your partner.
